Using TMP to recode the DivX to M2V and PCM. Then using TMP Author to make the .VOB files. And then Nero6 to burn.

Now I have got it to do the aspect ratio fine, and the sound and picture are in synch...but....the picture is choppy. I am thinking it hasn't encoded at the correct frame rate!? In TMP the setting was 29 FPS (I think) and it was set to PAL. I just don't see where I am going wrong. I am playing on a standalone player and the TR Rate is all over the place around 7.0 which seems low.

Done a search and can't find anything. Is there a standard set of values for doing this that makes this work? I am pleased with the results so far, never done this before so to get it 99% right isn't to bad.

I don't know what I am doing.

i could be wrong but musn't the frame rate for a PAL movie be set at 25 frames instead of 29?

Nope you are dead right it is 25Fps. So will encoding at 29 ie to many have the same effect as encoding to low? And is 29Fps NTFS?

Doing another one now, just using the wizard cos I really don't want to start messing with advanced settings.

I don't know what I am doing.

This is the info at the bottom as it is encoding.

DVD PAL (MPEG-2 720x576 25fps CBR 5571kbps, Linear PCM 48000Hz 1536kbps)

Does this seem correct for a DivX to PAL DVD conversion?

I don't know what I am doing.

think so.the resolution seems to be correct and the output for the audio also...

and by the way, ntfs is a way to format a hard drive.I think you wished to refer to NTSC

The output and input frame rates should match -- i.e. if your input material is NTSC (29.97fps), encode it to NTSC DVD then. For Europeans/PAL users this is not normally a prob as PAL DVD players can play NTSC material as PAL60 anyway and all modern TVs support PAL60.

Ahhhh! Cool, that makes sence. Yeah my DVD supports PAL and NTFS, I mean NTSC.

DOH! I can't believe I put NTFS, how embarassing. Yeah I meant NTSC. Cheers Arandil.

Yep, just encode the movie into NTSC then (29.97fps -- not the NTSC/Film of 23.97fps, unless the video is in that format). Thumb of rule: never try to change the framerate when encoding unless it is absolutely necessary.
