For the record, I tried using dvdfab but was troubled by the speed and slightly smaller size of the rip...it was too fast! I assume that it compromised on the quality and moved on to DVD Cloner
Anyway, when I tried to create a dvd it creates the movies in ISO format (as opposed to vob)...so I couldn't use imgburn to insert a layer break in a dual layer disk.
So my question is this: anybody know if DVD CLONER automates the process when also burning to DL disks?
and thanks iluvendo, but as I already pointed out, I can't use imgburn to create a layer break with the DVD Cloner File because its in the wrong format (iso as opposed to vob).
Which either makes Cloner useless - or imgburn redundant in this instance. Cloner has an internal burner or uses Nero (maybe), but the lack of info on layer breaks is kind of worrying.
So I'm trying to determine whether Cloner is a needless risk or whether imgburn can be bypassed.
1) decrypt to HDD with dvdfab HD (free version) Or use paid for version
2) process files (all) with fixvts 3) shrink files with dvd shrink, output as iso/image to HDD
4) burn iso/image file with IMgburn
Here's a link re DVD Cloner - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/92001 and i certainly wouldn't go near DVD Cloner. There's newer links/versions of Cloner than that but i believe the message within remains the same
all said and done, which program does this board rate as the best ripper? and by best, I mean in terms of quality, assuming a two or more pass is possible?
