Do I need to sensor mod if I have a flip-top on a slim ps2?

I am wondering, if I purchase a flip-top for my slim ps2, do I still need to sensor-mod my ps2 for use with Swap Magic or does the flip-top bypass the sensors?

The flip top will bypass the sensors, so once installed your ready to use Swap magic.
