ive tried it and so far i like it because its easier to find files than with irc/packetnews.com but im downloading quite slow. ive read people getting 80-120kbps and i know i cant get those speeds because im capped at around 40kbps. so i was wondering how to get the best download speeds from eMule.
(btw, my upload limit is at 10kbps, just about 80% of my upload and im sharing a few files, setting the priority to release after 20mb has been transfer)
sharing just a few files does not help, and are they any intrest to uploaders, you need clients to at lease take an intrest in you files to join your queue, this will increase your Known.met file, and when they actuly upload from you this will increase your client.met file and get you credits with that client, the more clients you Know and more client credit you get will increase your downloads,
You also have to make sure the files you want to download have a lot of available souces, 15-20+ are reasonable 40+ good, 60+ very good, you also have to take in account how large the file is, a large file with low availablity can take for ever
example:
350Mb file needs about 35-45 full downloads
700Mb 70-90 full downloads
you will undoutably get corrupt files from downloads as well, eMule does a very good job recovering as much as it can, but this means little bits have to downloaded this sometime take longer for some reason, not all clients are able to supply the bits, other than blocks, dont know why, perhaps someone else can answer that one
But dont think this will increase your download SPEED there all come in at an average speed it is when you have a lot of clients downloading to you all at once you get 80-120kbps

This lot is about 50kbps, I did not take into account at the time this happen, I probly had 7 or 8 clients Uploading from me, this would have slowed down my dowload rate,
but heres a little hint of help, you may not like it but it will increase you known.met vasterly, in no time at all, start downloading into a junk file, lots of high available porn, these will download very quickly as so many clients have them, your known.met file will explode with new clients, each client you contact is add to your know.met and possible will have the files you are wanting Download
you dont have to do the above, I started in September and had a clientel of 36,000+ in October, my downloads poured in, I could watch a new download amost every night.
But at the monent i am in the same state as you as someting happen to my Uploaders.
