Ok, so I have been kept awake many nights on account of one cursed game. It seems that no matter what I try or go through, The curse shall not be lifted and the beast rages.
Through my research, I have found that pretty much everyone else on the planet has fallen to the curse as well, as the game has the notorious "Freeze when trying to climb the second floor Flutter ladder lol" glitch, where the game freezes and displays a bunch of white text.
"Ok fine", I think to myself, "I'll just not ever go to the second floor of the Flutter and try to play the game like normal. This plan worked fine enough for a couple hours, until the rage of the beast awoken again.
Now I find myself on Pokte Island, after just getting the first Key and already disposing of the Pirates in the area. The next sequence of events in the game is to leave the island and get back onto the Flutter by climbing the ladder onto it.
Hah! The Curse of the Beast burns on and now whenever I try to climb the said ladder, I experience another round of freezeplay. This effectively leaves me stranded on Pokte Island and henceforth, unable to continue my Megaman Legends 2 experience.
If you could not follow my eloquently worded post, I experience fatal freezes whenever I try to go up the ladder from the Flutter's second floor and whenever I try to get back on the Flutter from Pokte Island.
As I've come to understand from my research, the second floor ladder trick is quite common, but this is the first I've heard of being stranded on Pokte Island.
Now I am wanting to know if any remedies have been found in the long while Megaman Legends 2 has been out and if anyone would be willing to share these with me. Surely some kind of panacea has been found that can either eliminate or drastically reduce these fatal freezes I'm encountering. For the record, I've tried making eboots with practically every conversion program out there.
I am using a PSP Obese with 5.00 M33-4 cfw, if that helps at all. Thank you fro reading this topic and any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Together, we can eliminated the Curse of the Beast once and for all!

I haven't done any research on this particular topic, but I had problem running a PSX game (freezed at certain point) and I solved it by using POPSloader; i just loaded pops from older firware and after that I completed the game flawlessly ;)
Hope that helps at least a bit.

Popsloader does help, but it can only do so much. For example, I updated the pops for my popsloader and managed to get off the damned island, but no pops firmware fixes the second ladder Flutter glitch.
As far as I can tell, everyone seems to have problems with this freeze ingame.

Ok, I'm at the very end of the game now and have successfully completed my Legends run.
It is unnecessary to even go into the second floor of the Flutter, so that issue is avoided altogether.
There are only a couple freeze-spots in the game, all of which bypassed by a simple pops change between saving games.
In short, Megaman Legends 2 is still highly playable from start to finish on PSP and I'm happy having had this opportunity to play it again.

I have the same problem, leaving the island.
I'm running 5.00 M33-6
What setting should I set the pops to, in order to get up the ladder?

I do so believe I had the pops set to 3.71.
This pops seems to be the best one for playing this game, as I experienced hardly any freezes with it.
Hope you have a pleasant MML2 experience! :)

I'm not sure of the inner machinations of Slims, but I assume they function the same as phats.
azekdahak; Do you have popsloader loaded onto your psp system? If it is already installed, all you have to do is hold down R when loading Megaman Legends form your memory stick to bring up the pops selection.
When the screen comes up, just choose 3.71 and you should be able to get off the island like it was nothing.
Remember, no pops seems to prevent the freeze from going into the second floor of the Flutter, so don't bother ever going down there.
Best of luck to all trying to play Megaman Legends 2. :)

koa... when I put the 3.71 seplugins on my memory stick and then go to recovery mode and there's no popsloder.prx in there, even if I put it in the right folder, what does this means??? and when I put the complete popsloader on my psp its in there, but when I boot the game and choose which popsloader I will use and when I pick any popsloader, it freezes... and it hangs when the popsloader is enabled when booting the game w/o holding the R button, and when I disabled it the game is booting... what should I do to fix this???

I have been researching this particular freeze for awhile now on several firmware, from 3.40, to 3.60, 3.80, 3.90, 4.01, all the way to 5.00 M33-3 and M33-6, yet this drastic ladder bug refuses to go away.
It's behavior certainly changes from firmware to firmware, and on 4.01, it actually is an exception and decides to show us the data, but I found something rather unusual. Whenever you reset the game after it crashes, the playstation logo comes up, but there are no "Playstation" words. Do you find this strange? I bet you do. Let me describe the behavior of this bug from version to version and hope that helps.
3.00 = Crash
3.01 = ..Crash.
3.02 = Crash :(
3.03 = Crashville. This time, I can access the menu when its frozen in place.
3.10 = CRASH!
3.11 = Crashman.
3.30 = Crash, and this is where I can start saying if there is no Playstation logo when I reset the game. This time, there is a logo. Sometimes I'm able to access the menu, sometimes I can't. AND IT JUST SHUT OFF ON ME =[
3.40 = EXCEPTION DATA. There is a logo.
3.51 = Nope. Still a crash. And btw, there's a logo.
3.52 = Futher mucking crash. Logo.
3.71 = Same crash. Different firmware. Logo.
3.72 = Total Crash. Can't even access menu. Caused system to shut off.
3.80 = Killer Crash. Resetting, NO LOGO. Game shuts off.
3.90 = Crash. No menu available.
4.01 = Strange, no exception data this time. It happened when I used a different converter from PSX to EBOOT, but never mind.
5.00 = Crash, what else? No logo, and it cut the power again.

Yea like I previously said, there is no way to go down the ladder then back up intact. It's not like it's any big loss to your game experience though. (All that is in the lower level of the Flutter is 2000 Zenny and a Rapid +1 buster part)
I've no idea why the game convulses over this part of the game, but we must live with it and it's small inconvenience.
