Hello, i saw a number of posts about how to fix a lowid on your router with emule/donkey/overnet. I recently installed a router on my home pc and saw a drop in download speed due to low id as well. The following is how i fixed it,now reaching speeds of 75 kb/s (on a 5mb line).

First i did what is descriped in Judoboy's post,of course modifying it to my router. Secondly i opened up the expandedable message pad in edonkey and typed in 'retest' to make sure i was not getting a fasle result. Of course i wasn't,so i headed on to set the cilent up to bypass the router. First i switched my tcp port to 80. I am the full system admin for my router,so i can not be sure what ports are open. 80 is the port a majority of windows based computers use for communction with the web browser so i was pretty sure it was open. I then made note of what my tcp/udp ports were and opened up my router config. You will need to find where you can forward udp/tcp ports and set it to forward them from the router's ip to the machine's ip (aka to the machine through the router). I am useing linksys and i was rather easy on that product. Secondly,i opened up the software firewall and set it to recqonize edonkey has a server. Of course i allowed it to accept any and all connections edonkey made through the computer. You can also make a custom setting on most firewalls and simply check to allow everything on each tab. You will also want to tell the router to allow all connections the program wants as well,if need be. Also,as a note if you are useing a firewall/router software produced by norton these tend to install a rule to block UDP and fileshareing,so you will open your router 's config and find if it uses something like NIS(norton internet security) and delete that rule on the firewall. Do restest and then restart the cilent and see if you get any faster speeds.

I know this is general knowledge stuff, but a lot of people on this forum seemed to have trouble with routers so i thought i would share this. I apologize if
it has already been posted and so forth.
