I have been trying to copy a movie for several days but keep getting the "burn failed" msg. I have used several different programs to try to do this. I have tried "1 click dvd", "dvd x copy xpress", dvd shrink", and "dvd decryptor" I have "dvd43" and "patin-couffin" installed. all of these programs read the disk ok, but when the time to burn to blank dvd comes, they say "burn failed". I am at a "dead end" on this & any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Virgil Hummel

If you've used several programs with the same result being a failed burn I would say it's either a problem with your burner or the media. What burner and media are you using?

vhummel,

A "burn failed" message is usually only two things - the most common, a lack of resources caused by using the computer while it?s writing. That means, no typing, No leafing through Email, no nothing - LEAVE the room !!.
Go to msconfig and turn EVERYTHING off, reboot and then begin your backup sequence - right away, don?t do anything else first

DVD XCopy original or Xpress requires more resources than any other program I have seen -

My recommendation is DVD Shrink version 3.1.7 Beta 3 and have Nero on board for the burn - less human intervention for the entire program -

Shrink download - http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_shrink.cfm

Virgil, I didn?t see anywhere that you had Nero 6 - load that up for me Buddy and that way Shrink will fire your DVD for us -

Second, as my friend Nephilim has already mentioned, lets get some decent media going so that we do this right - pickup some Verbatim or some Ritek G04 single write discs - I?ll tell you, before I learned about the ?Good Stuff? I blew so much money on coasters I could have purchased a small country -

FYI - for anyone to note - I recently had to turn off AnyDVD - Why ? My $40.00 investment made a noticeable difference in my system?s performance - it was like operating through molasses - perhaps it was the "Last Straw" who knows, but I had one burn that took almost 2 hours instead of 23 min or so - The Lesson - Guys we all have too much "stuff" running - Shut it Down !

Newbies, Shut EVERYTHING Down until you can figure out what you have the power to run !

Vigil, stick with us Buddy, actually do the stuff we?re telling you and we?ll have you backing up your whole library in no time :-)
