Anyone have Philips 624 DVD player?

I just got this dvd player and it says it plays (s)vcd and all, but when i popped in my vcds ... there was no sound... for my previous dvd player there was sound...i used the same connection (optical) and the difference is that my receiver says dts while in the old when my receiver switched from dolby to pcm when i played vcds.

If you have this and know if there is a setting to change let me know, cuz there isn't any sound!
