Hi,

I haven't been able to find information on what are the reasonable settings for Video Bit Rate I should be using to convert my avi to mpeg-2. Here is the information for the file I want to convert:

W x H = 320 x 240 pixels
Duration = 1:23:42
Bit Rate = 127 kbps
Audio = mp3

Frame Rate = 29 frames/second
Data Rate = 80 kbps
Video sample size = 24 bit
Video Compression = DivX codec

When I use TMPEnc, it is giving me a large VBR figure of > 6000 kbits/sec, which means I can only fit this file on a 4.7 Gb DVD-R disc. But I want to get 150 minutes of video on the disc by adding another file to the disc. TMPEnc is obviously trying to stretch this avi file to cover the entire disc. Do you know what settings I should be using to achieve that?

Also, how can I tell if this avi file is NTSC or PAL? I realise it is not advisable to change formats.

And my final question is with TMPEnc itself - I have heard that this program sometimes makes files which, when burned to DVD, can give jumpy playback results. Is this true? If so, what is another program that I should be trying?
