I don't know much about keylauncher as I have always use uLaunch.elf to use with the PS2.
I believe you needed to first add the elf files you wanted when you make the exploit, plus have the KL.DAT along with that maps the ELF files you want to launch.
http://sksapps.com/index.php?page=ps2keylaunch.html
I think using uLaunch.elf is much better these days.

Right on, glad that worked out for you.
Ok to play backups now using fmcb 1.8 and ESR
Go to this thread: ESR public Beta
Download ESR disc patcher GUI v0.24a.rar , you will scroll down to attachments.
Once you have that open you patch the ISO image with the disc patcher, then burn the ISO image with imgburn (its free) at 4x speed.
The short tutorial is right above the attachments.
An explanation of what the 3 different ESR elf files are:
I'm attaching set of three applications. One is intended for launching games directly from dvd (but can also launch homebrew apps from DVDV discs, just SYSTEM.CNF and proper elf is needed) - "dvd direct" version .
The other is to launch elf files in either mcx:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF or mcx:/B?DATA-SYSTEM/BOOT.ELF - "mcard" version.
The third is "dvd direct off" version, which is almost the same as the "dvd direct" but will disable ESR after first full successful IOP reset (think about it as "mode 3" in hdloader. All should have similar compatibility (with obvious limitations for "off" version).

Yes the noobie package came with the ESR direct r9b elf.
That is why I directed you to that package as all files come with it already. Makes it easier for first time installing.
uLaunch tutorial if you need it ever.
If you ever need to change or update an ELF file just use ulaunch.elf to copy the new one over from usb device. You would just name it the same, so it would work.
Good luck with the hdd.

I use Codebreaker 10.elf that is patched to work with hdloader.
It works on the hdd and with fmcb 1.8
So that way you can use it for the hdd games and the ESR patched games.
I have sort of explained it in this post. If you need more assistance with it let me know.
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/737008#4477492
I even stored it on my hdd in the /boot folder to save memory card space if you don't have much, using uLaunch.elf to copy it there.
You can then use Ulaunch.elf to launch it.
Oh and sorry about PS1 games, ffgriever who created ESR.ELF is working on something to load PS1 games using fmcb, but it is still work in progress as far as I know.
What version PS2 do you have?

Ok so you have a V10 PS2, you can for now use psxlauncher.elf to play the backups.
You need to swap with Original PS1 disk
Once you launch it the instructions are on the screen.

I don't know when ffgreiver will release it as there is no release of any yet. He doesn't like to be bugged about it. When he as time he works on it.
So just watch the freevast section on psx-scene forums, to know when it may be released.
There was a thread there about it, but I can't find it at the moment.
There are modes to select for hdd games. Press the "SELECT" button on the game, and choose the 3rd one down, that is "mode 3"
Then press " SELECT " again to save it
Then try starting the game again.
Some games require a patch first to work with hddloader
http://sksapps.com/index.php?page=hd.html - scroll down to patches
There is also a compatibility list at the top of that page.
And here is another compatibility list

Oh I never thought to ask , how did you put them on the hdd.
Did you use Winhiip 1.7.6 through the computer?
There are no modes showing up when you Press " SELECT" on the controller, when you have the game highlighted.

I am not sure if psxlauncher.elf will run from a usb device or not.
It may have to be on your mc, I can't test mine out at the moment.
Get back to you later on that.

Ok cool, Yeah I bought Metal Gear Solid Integral quite some time ago as I wanted it too work and it wouldn't work with Breaker Pro
I backed mine up using clonecd and I made it so I can have on the psp also.
Works great.
I have a V14 slim PS2 and can now play PS1 backups using the fmcb 1.8
The method doesn't work on FAT PS2 though.
I tried it and it would actally load the PS1 logo and stay there.
Not that it matters for you I guess but this is the method I can use on my slim
http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=131438
For the hdd I use hdloader 8c and I have all the modes listed when I press SELECT, not sure why you don't.
One would have to check on the FMCB thread at psx-scene and see what version they used in their noobie package.

Ok but what I am saying is by experience and other users, it always best to make an ISO image of your game first.
Then use Winhiip to copy the ISO image to your hdd.
Now in other situtations I have heard to open the drive tray and your game should work on the hdd.
Using hdloader 8c should fix that.
