Problem reusing CD-RWs

I have some Maxell 650MB CD-RWs with data that I want to format for reuse, but the burner refuse to burn new data onto them after the formatting. The original data on the CD-RW were burned using DAO without formatting it first. I'm using Easy CD Creator 5 to do this, and I did NOT use Direct CD.

The CD-RWs failed on its first rewrite, what's going on?

Use CloneCD or Nero Burning Rom to erase these disks. I had the same problem and they worked for me

Why couldn't CD Creator erase rewritables for rewriting? Just want to know why before I spend more money.
