Hi, just a quick question.

My friend recently purchased a new Wii system, and she is wondering if the WiiKey2 is going to work with it.

All the serial number reference guides I have found are pretty outdated and don't have any serial numbers close to what she has on her Wii, so we aren't sure about if this chip will work or not.

Anyone know of any updated serial number charts to see if this Wii she has will work with a WiiKey2?

Thanks,
Salmonzig

This is the most up-to-date serial number listing I know of. http://www.wiidrives.com/list

And the wiikey2 works on all but the newest drives, known as the D2NOTHING because it lacks the drivechip that the modchip attaches to.

Save yourself the hassle of opening your wii and ruining the warranty. Go with softmod. If you have any computer common sense at all you can do it.

Since when does the Wii have a seal of warranty?

I open four so far and yet to see any stickers.

It doesn't. Opening it doesn't void the warranty.

Thanks for all the responses! Wii Key 2 has been ordered ;D

Do a lot of people use the soft mod by itself to play backups now? Or do the majority of people still use mod chips to play their backups?

I remember months ago the soft mod taking quite a while to load up backup games, is this still the case?

Modchips are always the way to go. Softmods are just for people who don't feel comfortable on opening the Wii or sending the Wii off to a modder.

With Softmodding not all games are compatible and there are some read-speed problems.
