So I am using a Laptop and unfortunately the best 2'5 HDD you can equip seem to a 320GB 7200rpm drives. This isn't really a desirable amount of space compared to 3'5 alternatives.

So I thought about picking up a 1TB HDD and throwing it an external as an alternative and seem to be on the cheap side now. My question is can I set a Media Server up for my PS3 as where it would read off the external HDD or am I forced to continuously drag and drop files from my external to my shared media folders?

The only reason I ask and don't just set the HDD up to the PS3 itself to read off of (currently unaware if possible with that size) it is because multiple people in my household like to use there PS3's to read off my Media Server.

Any info or incite that would be needed to be done or if even passable to get this to work would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,

I have been trying to find any info online through Google searches but the terms come up with too much chaff to confirm. I was also looking into a Network capable HDD Hub to see if that would also be an option but no real hits on that as well.

I would suggest going into Tversity's (or some other similar one) forum and ask there to get a definitive answer. But in all honesty I cannot see why your specific question wouldn't work. Though if my specific question does work THAT would be the best all around!

Download Java PS3 Media Server, you can share all the drives that you need no matter if it is external or from 2nd network, and imo is the best PS3 media server around.

SDF are you confirming that it will see a HDD hub on a network all by itself with NO PC? I.E. PS3 to Router to network capable HDD hub enclosure (no pc acting as a bridge/connector).
