I got a DVD from a client and I need to make an .avi out of. Normally i just play the dvd in my dvd player and capture through my capture card. However my dvd player doesn't recognize this particular DVD. How would I got about converting the .VOB files the .AVIs?

Converting a .VOB file to .AVI is actually much easier than it would seem. Since it is a very long tutorial, i would recommend visiting this link which will show you exactly how to do it. http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd2divx.cfm

I believe you can use ImTOO DVD Ripper or DVDx to convert from VOB to AVI. Both of these programs are found in the software section.

I am having trouble trying to get DVD2AVI to work. I have used DVD Shrink to get the files to VOB and I tried to use DVD2AVI to convert the files. I saved as project, then I try to save as an AVI but it doesn't do anything when I try to save the AVI w/ no recompression or uncompressed. When I try to use a different compression utility, I get an error & the program is shut down. I am actually looking for the best way to convert VOB files to Divx, mpeg, movie files, or AVI files.

Setup:
Pioneer A06
Windows XP Professional SP1
AMD Athlon XP2000+
512mb DDR PC2700

The reason you are getting error's is probably because you dont have all the codecs loaded. Download the latest codec pack and try it again. I normally stick with XVID myself and dont have to much experience with any of the other's but I wll try and help the best I can.
