I have a modded Xbox 360 and I want to buy a 20gb HDD.
Can i install backup games to the hdd and play them from there?
And I also read that you only have about 15 GB available on the HDD and the rest is for upgrades, dashboard and other stuff.
How many games can you install to the 20gb hdd?

u can install games to hdd but u will still need to have the disc in the drive but it will only check to see if it is there to prove u "own" the game. it wont spin the disc tho and it will load faster with most games (dont try it with halo 3) And a 20Gb hdd really only gives u like 13 gb of space. each game average 6 gb i think so u might be able to install 2 games if u dont have any demos or anything taking up space. I have only done it with fable 2 and it did load a lot faster. But i only plan on doing this for games like fable 2 and fallot 3 that load a lot. u can find a list of games on some sites that document how much time it saves when installed to hdd

If you send me questions on Live about modding or anything related i will block you. Dont be an idiot.

And because the xbox360 is modded, it will pass the disk check even with a backup. Right?

Yes it will work no prob, that's what I did.

However I'm sure MS will still run disc checks, will still run media checks (so make sure you have good backups, or if d/led, use abgx360).

It sure makes games run faster and decreases the wear and tear of your DVD drive, that's for sure. Love my Jasper model, finally proper cooling, smaller/lighter power supply, best DVD drive of all 360s (the once unflashable Liteon :), and the box feels barely warm to the touch. Plus MS was nice enough to let people avoid abusing their drives with huge loading games like GTAIV and Fable2 by letting us copy to hd.

One warning regarding HDs though. Don't!, DO NOT go on live with a modded HD, like the WD 100GB mod, that gets easily picked up and you get a ban!

there's no way i would even consider a 20gb HD... like the guy said earlier you will start with 13GB free but really the first game i installed onto it was 7GB so i could only install 1 game ! !!

go with 120gb no doubt

best thing to do for HDD space is buy the 120gb from www.dealextreme.com, they are Microsoft HDD's for $80.
