I am asking because I am looking into getting my xbox 360 modded so I can play burnt copies of my original games. I often play on xbox live and do not want to be banned.
Well they haven't nor will stop. Thing is, garyopa (the guy who came out with xtreme and ixtreme firmware) scanned the web traffic between console and MS and hasn't discovered MS using any newer techniques at checking for backup DVDs.
That said however, there is always a risk that they might or will. However, the latest 1.5 ixtreme is the safest and the new Liteon drive is the safest of them all to take on Live, hitachi is the least safe.
Don't play games before they are released, don't get "torrent" or personal rips. Scan all games you d/l with abgx360 tool and/or mulleter.
Set check level to Lvl 3 and high verbose mode in abgx360 (it's the best tool).
Did a flash of my Liteon yesterday, all went smooth using executor ck3 and a home made probe (a wire with a needle).
No, this means you should not go ONLINE with it yet. The team is in the process of releasing iXtreme 1.5 for Hitachi, they just released it for Liteon a few weeks back. Wait for that, in the mean time you can flash with ixtreme 1.4 and just use it offline.
