floating dual shock analog?...help?

hows it going? my analog stick on my dual shock 3 floats upward occasionally when the controller is sitting still. i would like to know if there is a way to fix this? and if there is a way what should i do so that the controller can stay centered? help would be greatly appreciated thank you!!

I would very carefully take the controller apart and see if something is broken inside, say a little clip or something like that or It could even be something is not seated properly, maybe from the unit being dropped.

Both off my sticks on both of my controllers float/stick, Although the cause was a boisterous puppy chewing them!
I haven't found a way to stop it even after taking one apart, nothing seems to be broken.
