Possible to update Wii Firmware without Internet Connection?

I have a Wii with Firmware 3.1u, and was wondering if it is possible to update the firmware without an internet connection. Maybe using a SD card?
I will be trying to install Homebrew Channel after the update.

Could I ask why??? You are fine where you are at. You can update off of certain wii games, which are required to make the game work. But with the homebrew channel you can get the wads and only use the updates needed and not update the full firmware. Full firmware updates always have risks of not being able to use homebrew and other things.

Without the homebrew channel or an internet connection the only way to upgrade is from a game disk containing an update.

As ferdyjmg said though, theres no reason to upgrade unless you need to. You can install any homebrew and do whatever you want on firmware 3.1, you dont need to upgrade to do it.
