Seeing that often I waste CD's burning a movie/game that I could just view/play directly from my comuter, I decided to d/l Daemon Tools to burn the image (.bin/.cue) to my PC.
I went to the website and I downloaded the newsest version.
When I began the install, I read the readme, it said dis.
"Known Issues:
System crashes and/or blue screen of death on some systems having (or had) Adaptec (Roxio) Easy CD Creator installed. Older versions of this burning program are known to cause lots of trouble in combination with other burning soft or DAEMON Tools. Therefore, we DO NOT RECOMMEND installing DAEMON Tools on a PC with Easy CD Creator installed! In order to completely remove Easy CD Creator, download and install 'Feurio' (www.feurio.com). This application runs a system check after installation (also can be started manually by selecting 'Extras' -> 'System Check') pointing to all potential 'trouble-makers' on your system allowing to disable/remove them.
Crash during installation on some 9x systems having Nero installed. The crash may be caused by nerocd95.vxd module when new devices are added to system. To solve this issue rename/remove this module (in SYSTEMIOSUBSYS) temporarily, reboot and install DAEMON Tools. Then you can rename/restore nerocd95.vxd.:"
I have had Roxio Eascy CD Creater installed on my machine, although it is uninstalled now. Also I have Nero 6 installed.
I am wondereing if the above facts would be a potential problem, seeing as I DONT wanna mess up my blazin new comp.
IF it would be a problem, what do I do at www.feurio.com?? and I dont understand what it says about Nero.
Unless you have a really unstable setup as it is, odds are DaemonTools will work fine for ya. 'sides even if you do get the BSOD, you can always safemode uninstall daemontools :-)
I'll add my solution in case anyone else comes across this page via Google --
At first, any reboot (including safe mode) will result in a STOP RDR_FILE_SYSTEM in Cdr4_xp.sys.
I tried "last known good configuration" first, not sure if that's required.
Start under safe mode. You'll eventually get a prompt, "Press Escape to cancel loading of d344xxx.sys" -- do so. (I'm not sure why XP singles out that one driver.)
In safe mode, open Control Panel, Hardware, Device Manager. You'll see something highlighted with a yellow "!" under System Devices -- that's part of the Daemon Tools driver.
Right-click on it, and select "Uninstall"
Reboot Windows normally, (and be sure to uninstall Roxio or Daemon Tools.)
