ok i found this really detailed site about all the methods and ways to flash a lite on http://beta.ivancover.com/wiki/index.php...act_Key#Connect

That link should take you to the connect section of the page. i plan on building my own RS232 when the maxim chip gets here but i have a question.
in those connect instructions they are soldering to the drive. I am guessing this is because they are not using a probe, correct? if not please explain.
if i am on the right track here then i am curious about how to use my own RS232 that i will build with a probe that i also will build. i know how to build the probe and the rs232 from directions i have found online. But, i have not found directions on building the 2 and using together. so If i want to build all this and avoid soldering onto the lite on what is the proper way of doing this?

Links to tuts or whatever are welcome. Thanks!

when you make your own adapter you have your 1k resister and your 10k resitor. the 10k resistor can be stuck straight into the r707 hole and that can be used to dump the key. or at least thats how i did mine.

ah ok so there is no need to solder like that link is indicating.

i am going to use their diagram to make my adapter, or is that advisied against since they are using the probe method? if anyone has a link to a diagram that can be used along with the method mikeismad is talking about can u please post/link for me.

sorry, i didnt look at the link. but if your actually going to build the circuit board and stuff you would want to follow their directions completely. I thought you were going to make your own by following this tutorial:

http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=668247

i did that and it worked fine.
