I have a 12 month xbox live subscription and everything has been working fine, and i have created several 1 month free gold trials from my original account that have worked fine. i decided today that i wanted to get another gamertag so i went to sign up for one and in the part when the gamertag is being created i get this message that tells me that the MTU is to low or something, and it needs to be at around 1364 (i cant remember the exact #). after this, i cant sign into xbox live at all, and i dont know why. the weird thing is that when i restart my xbox and it does the auto sign in, i get connected to live and everything works.

so i checked my computers MTU and its at 1500, but my xbox still told me it was too low. my computer and xbox are connected to a router.

so basically my original Gamertag works fine but any 1 month GT that i make now doesnt work and i get the MTU thing.

can someone help me with this??

reboot the router and modem. make sure xbox is turned off before doing this.

first turn off both the router and modem.
then turn the modem on but not the router. let the modem boot up all the way. as in let the lights on it get back to how they normally look when it is on and operating correctly.
then after the modem is up turn on the router and wait for it to get back up to normal. check and make sure ur internet is working on pc and then try to connect to live again. MTU is a transmitting level of some kind, i used to work for comcast but they are nazis and i hate them lol i cant remeber exactly what it means but just try all that and see if it works. if not then u may have to do some tweeking in the router settings. but if u do that then make sure u know what u are changing as it could screw up and not have connectivity at all. aka read ur manual for mtu stuff
