I need to convert a game from PAL to NTSC so I can install it on my HD in my PS2 that is soft modded. Is this possible or no? I have Sonic Mega Collection, but it is supposedly a .001 file, not an .ISO file, so I can't use PS2PAL TO NTSC PATCHER with y fix on it.. Any suggestions?
Edit: I resolved the issue with the .001 file and I used the PS2 PAL TO NTSC PATCHER with y fix on my Sonic Mega Collection, even though it wasn't officially on the list. Now I just would like to know what am I supposed to do with the SLES_529.98.bak file that was created? Also, this -is- hard drive soft modded PS2 friendly, right? I heard something about if you used the adrenalin patch with a certain mod chip, it would fry it, so I don't want to ruin anything here even if it is a different program..
I don't think you need to. I have Odin Sphere on my hard drive (HDLoader 0.8c) in Pal format, whenever I load it first a screen pops up asking which frequency I want (50mhz=pal 60mhz=ntsc). Whenever I put in my disc of Snake Eater (can't get it onto my HD) the same screen pops up (well not identical, but asking for the same response). HDLoader could care less what region the game is from, as far as I can tell.
Okay, cool then. So what should I do with the SLES_529.98.bak file that was created now? I still have my ISO and that, just need to know what to do to get it unto my HD. I know how to transfer files and such to the HD, just not sure what to do with that file now.
Uh you should just need the iso. I've never copied anything else to my hard drive. Again this is just speculation on my part, it'd be nice if someone more knowledgeable would post but these boards are slow. Worst case scenario the game doesn't work, it's not going to mess up your PS2.
Yeah, they are pretty slow, can't argue there lol. But yeah, I just realized that there was another file created as well, too. elfB50D.tmp along with SLES_529.98.bak were created in the process of creating a patch for Sonic Mega Collection. Again, still looking for help = / I've checked around, but there really is no centered source of info on every aspect of modding PS2's like there needs to be, and smaller areas of issues like this are scattered all over the place.
