Hi Gamers!

I bought my new Wii in the UK with the chip D2SUN inside and the vendor showed me two backup copies working fine. On the other hand, I had download two reliable Wii iso that worked for most of the people. I have checked them with GC tool and both are identified as Mario Kart and Call of Duty, being both PAL versions.
My surprise came up when burning both iso files using Nero 7, 4x and Verbatim DVD-R (recommended by the vendor) and surprisingly my Wii try to read the discs but nothing happens. Not "error disc" neither "bad file" kind of error but purely, it keeps reading them until I ejected the disc. Then no other Wii disc could be read (even the Wi Sport), I need to reboot the Wii and try another time and the same history again and again.
Yesterday I went to talk with the vendor and he said that could be my DVD burner in my laptop and I should use a desktop machine (is what they do in the shop). For instance, he gave me a backup game and worked fine in my Wii (burnt in a Preston DVD)..so he argues that the chip works. I have tried Imgburn at 2X and verify the disc after that and nothing changes: the Wii can not load the game, it just tries to read the DVD again and again.

Im quite confused with this. The DVD burner in my ASUS core2duo is a Matshita ram.cfm" class="forum_link" target="_blank">DVD-RAM UJ-850S.

Anyone can give a hand please?Any recommendations?

Cheers

I dont own a PC i only got a Labtop and i can burn just fine , so saying u need to use a PC is a load of BS ..

I use Verbatim -Dvdr and Imgburn , burn speed from 2x - 4x and it works fine ..also i dont use the verify after a burn , no need and waste of time...
Try and use WiU 1.0 and check the files for differnt regions and updates etc

Also u could make sure u dont overload your Labtop while doing a burn also check to see if u got any software that takes a lot of ram while u burn ..

I havnt heard of any dvd drive that was not abel to burn an iso and work because its on a labtop :S ,...

Also mario kart has that tructha signed thingy on , so why not give a go with another file then thouse u have mentioned :)

It could very well be the ISO's you downloaded that are the problem. Have you tried other backed up games? Maybe borrow a friends disc that you know works and try it in yours?

Thanks very much for the answers!

I will try this evening Wiu 1.0 to verify the ISOs. They should work because before downloading them, I had read the comments from the people that had already tried them and they said is was ok (ESPALWII.com sources).
The vendor gave me a copy of a back up Mario&Sonic Olympic games and it worked fine (that is when he complained about the way I was burning the DVDs).
Yesterday, I tried Call of Duty 5 with ImgBurn 2x and verbatim DVD -R. During the burning process only the antivirus seemed to be on in the background and the system had more than 1.2 Gb free of RAM and the Asus energy managing tool was set up to high performance. Again the same problem.

Do you recommend me any different sources?

Any suggestion would be very appreciate it.

Cheers

Hi,

I checked the ISO with GC tool yesterday and now I have just done it with Wiu 1.0. Everything seems ok with the ISO (Good size, Europe region, make code: 01 Nintendo), it just needed to update the ISO file but as I already played with the S&M Olympic Games I think the Wii is up to date.

I just ask a colleague from work, to burn the same MarioKart ISO (the one checked with Wiu 1.0)using ImgBurn 2x with a verbatim -R in his laptop Lenovo T61.

Lets see when Im back at home if there is any difference.

Cheers

Could be your burner. I did have issues with my HP burner but my LG works pefect when I burn. Of course I always burn at 8x too.

Lets see when Im back at home if there is any difference.

hi iceman,

Did you have problems with an internal HP DVD burner?so are you using a desktop?

My friend's Lenovo DVD burner is a Matshita as well as in my ASUS laptop.

Thanks anyway to mention this.

I only really did at high speeds. You need to test a different iso. I had issues like this before and found it was a bad iso.

Hi guys,

Even if it sounds a bit odd, the DVD I burnt with my colleague's Lenovo T61 usign ImgBurn 2X plus Verbatim DVD-R worked like a charm in my Wii!
So no explanation about why my ASUS core2duo was doing a bad job burning Wii ISOs ... (both laptop have a Matshita DVD burner)

At least, we know that could happen. My laptop is running a Vlite stripped down version of Vista Ultimate but the DVD drivers are updated. A non sense by the way...

It sounds very weird .. But u have confirmed that its not the label of the drive that has a problem , but the problem is still on your labtop .. wheter it be your dvd drive that is broken (Have u been abel to burn something else and read the data , like a movie or data)?

I dont or have i heard of peopel using a stripped version of vista and then burning wii iso..

but you should try burning data , or other iso files wheter it be a movie which is made in iso or what ever to make sure that the drive is abel to burn ...

Hi,

I burnt a few data DVDs with films, audio and everything went ok. Again, if I burn a Wii iso, then insert the disc into my Wii, nothing happens just keeps reading the disc but can not load it. I have tried with different iso (Call of Duty, mario galaxy) and only Naruto 2 disc was loaded but then I got a black screen...

I was thinking about buying an external DVD burner. it is probably the only solution for now.

I dont think installing gamma channel or back up loader in my Wii would sort out my problem burning DVDs with my laptop, wouldn't it?

Any comments would be appreciate it.

ah? Your wii won't read it if you don't use the backup launcher. You have to have it modded.

Hi there,

yeah I have my Wii with the D2Sun and I have tried a few back up games and it works great. The main problem is every game I try to burn with my laptop does not work. The wii just can not load the game, it keeps reading it...
