Making a PS2 play video files

Just had a quick brouse, and nothing seems to come into play exactly what I want my PS2 to do.

Right, what i want it to do is play video files ( AVI / any other video format ) Not really bothered about games TBH.

What i have :
A unmodded SCPH-50003
A 80GB Ipod
A 500GB external HDD

What i DONT have:
Any DVD / CD's
A IDE HDD

Now, what do i do to make my PS2 be able to play video files?

SMS - a freeware that is a media player, however u have to get ur ps2 modded in some way. Free MCboot is a good way to do this, however u will require to find a few things. Or find someone with a modded ps2 to install a hack on ur memeory card.

AR - they used to have some sort of video player on it.
