Hello all, I just wanted to clue you in on the new copyright deal that is prohibiting us from backing up our movies and protecting our investments.
Shrink is the key... 3.1 is sufficient and will do as it is freeware
Anydvd is the first step, and it is free for 20something days and we all know how to get around that one.
Next is Fab5hd which is freeware also.
It may seem to be a pain but you must use all 3 to accomplish given goal. First tear it with Anydvd, then you open file with Fab5 and run it, then you "shrink as in 3.1" the fab file and bring it back down to your 4.7 as in most cases you will get the full dvd but in few you will have to step back to Fab and go main movie only as in the Bangkok deal with Cage and finish from there. I have had an issue with Shrink not wanting to put it back down to the 4.7, but I used the nero7 in that individual case and prevailed!
Entire process takes about 33 minutes on my system... Regards

Inexorable!

Hi,

but we here at AD get around the 21 day trial time limitations by purchasing our software from Slysoft.

I agree with Jo's statement. You want to use the software beyond the free trial....BUY IT!

wolf1967, thanks for trying to help and I hate to burst your bubble, but DVD Shrink 3.1 is not the current version. 3.2 is the most recent and it's several years old. We also have a thread dedicated to software, methods and guides to backup "any" movie.

Can someone help? I am using Shrink 3.2 and have been for sometime. I opened a dvd and the main movie shows only 34 MB then when I re-author it the main title shows 6731 MB but when I move it over to the left it once again shows only 34 MB.

Thanks Fancy05

Hi,

you may wish to try this method.

Jo

From 1bonehead

You have found a newer movie that shrink cannot handle.Soooooo

1) decrypt to HDD with dvdfab HD (free version) Or use paid for version
2) process files (all) with fixvts
3) shrink files with dvd shrink, output as iso/image to HDD
4) burn iso/image file with IMgburn

all programs are free

Imgburn, free from
http://www.imgburn.com

fixvts, free from
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_...ools/fixvts.cfm

dvdfabHD free from
http://www.dvdfab.com

dvd shrink 3.2.0.15

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_.../dvd_shrink.cfm

and a guide to use all the programs

Here is a guide for using FixVTS.
http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/fixvts_guide.cfm

Secret Window is an older release, if I am thinking about the right one, and was able to be done using DVD Shrink alone. Unless this is a newer version, it should not be a problem.

Hi Teri,

you could have a bad copy of the disc. Perhaps this is why it won't copy.

Hi Teri,

sounds like a corrupted file. Try re ripping (make sure the disc is clean and scratch free). Then retry fixvts.

Are you trying the disc or the files that are already ripped on your HDD?

99% of all problems are between the computer and the chair.

You need to rip the files to your HDD first.

FixVTS works with files that are on your HDD, not the disc. You must first rip the disc to your HDD before proceeding.
