Backup problems with usb Gecko

I recently bought the usb Gecko but I am having problems getting it to work. I already installed the drives but I get this error message This is not a valid Wii application when ever I try to install the cios installer,wiirip or Gecko Os 1.06
I already have Gecko OS 1.07 and the homebrew cannel install,I try deleting it but same error occurs.
I do have the cIOs Installer from Wigator version 0.3 Gamma and I load my 2 backups that a friend made for me from Backup Launcher. he has an LG drive though.
The main reason I bought the usb Gecko was to bakup my originals since I dont have an LG DVD reader. I have tried going to USB Gecko website and other forums but I dont know what else to do to get my Gecko working. could anybody please help me?
I am using version 3.3u on my Wii
