xtractor 360, problem activating legacy mode on Acer laptop

Hi need some advice please
I am trying to activate legacy mode on my Acer Aspire 5633 so that I can use xtractor 360 and spear but cannot find it in the bios. Is this because the laptop does not have sata connections or is it not supported.
When I try to read the key on my Liteon drive it says there is an error opening the comm port (USB connection)would this be because legacy mode is not activated?
