Before Xmas, I played Mario Kart online nearly every day on my 3.2E Wiikey'd Wii running 1.9s with no probs. Having been out of the country for a month and now back in the UK, I want to get back online and carry on playing, but I've read that Nintendo are forcing firmware updates down the wire when you log onto Nintendo WFC.

Is this true? or can I just get back online and carry on playing with everything as it was?

Even if it were true, you can just upgrade to 3.4 and continue playing online. No updates have effected modchips.

I know that, but I run a lot of homebrew, so my O/S is important.

The only homebrew thats permanently effected by updating is starfall. All other homebrew can be restored by installing IOS16 in the wad manager.

And if you'd asked about homebrew in the original post I would have told you that already.
