Can I let MarioKart update my Wii if I have Wiikey 2 installed?

I have the Wiikey 2 installed on my system. I have made numerous backups which with with no problems. I have found 1 game that will not work- MarioKart. I have an LG-8162 drive I use to rip the original games to my HDD. I then run the iso's through Wiu 1.1 to kill the update. When I tried to play the back-up of MarioKart, it loads, then I get a black screen. May question is:

Should I put in the original MarioKart and let it update? Will this kill my Wiikey 2? Will this allow me to then play the back-up of MarioKart?

This is the ONLY game I found so far that will not work. My son really wants to play this game. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

You can let the game update if you want, it won't do anything to your system, unless of course it's from a different region than your Wii!

As for the backup, what brand media did you burn it to? Are you sure the ISO is good?

I am using verbatim. I originally used maxell, when that didn't work I went to verbatim. I checked the iso with Wiu 1.1, it says the iso is a good size.
