I recently reformatted my hard drive because of a registry problem. I have three different portable hard drives. One of the hard drives (750 gb) had security placed on it...file locks.
This particular hard drive has many of my videos on it. I've installed the original codec packs and am able to play videos from my other hard drive. However, when i try to play videos from the 750 gb hard drive, I either get the error message (in GOM player):
"Cannot play the media file"
"You don't have the necessary codec to play"...(etc)
or the GOM player plays the wrong video...
Example- I tried to play a Marlyn Monroe video but got a vampire video.

Again, I've installed all of the codecs that are necessary to play these vids.
I do remember a process where I go to "MY COMPUTER" and change some settings so that I can transfer ownership from the SYSTEM ADMIN (me) to a specific user (ME). But I've scoured the internet and can't find the article. I hate to waste anyone's time, but your help is greatly appreciated.
