just installed the homebrew channel. Bit confused though. At the end of the Guide it says i can erase everything from sd card. But when i try to load wiigator it reads from the sd card. Must i always have the sd card w/ apps in the wii to run homebrew apps? or is there a way to load them onto the wii itself?

You have to leave wiigator on the SD card if you follow that guide. Someone mentioned installing wiigator as a channel which would allow you to remove the SD card, but I haven't quite figured that out.

Did you delete the whole apps folder or just the cIOS_Installer folder located in apps folder.
You have to leave "Backup_Launcher" inside the apps folder.

@merandom
Thats what im looking for. I wanna drop the whole need of an sd card. I dont think ill be using a lot of homebrew im just looking to remove updates and region from games without patching games.
@smokyrain
yea i erased everything on card. i thought once it was installed i did not need the files. Is there a way to leave it installed and not need the files on a sd card?
So basically you will need all the files on the sd card whenever using homebrew?

Well when you want to run homebrew, you have the applications placed on your SD card.
Here is another link about what can be done using homebrew etc.
A fellow on page six said it worked fine using 3.4
There is a good sticky on what homebrew is available, plus you could google it.
But I installed the wiigator as a channel, then you don't need the SD card in. link
I always leave the card in anyway though, so haven't tried it yest without the card in.

That's the guide I followed. I still don't see where it says how to install the wiigator channel. I'm lost here! lol

You need to get the wii gator wad file. This will install as a channel.

I installed the channel... now how do you force NTSC on it? It seems to default to whatever it is on the game I put in.

If your wii is NTSC and you are trying to run PAL games, then hold in "B" and go to config options. Go to FORCE NTSC and hit the game pad right and it will change it to "yes". Then go back to main menu and choose launch game. The pain is, you have to do this every time you load the game. This is the reason I only download NTSC games.

No problem. Is your console ntsc? It's safer to download only ntsc games anyway, even though I haven't had any issues. You'll have a lot less chance of a brick.

Yeah, my console is NTSC. I only own a handful of PAL games... I got them before I knew what I was doing. I had no idea there was a difference in the games.

Just make sure to never update your Wii through the PAL games if your Wii is NTSC.

I took all my PAL games and backed them up, then ran them through wiigionfree and wiibrickblocker. These ones play fine, and I don't plan on getting any more so I should be good.

I've got a better idea,
drop a mod chip in your wii!
No forcing NTSC EVERY time and you get to play Gamecube games too!

You don't have to force NTSC on the softmod either plus it's 100% free. Sofmod rules.
