Xbox 360 / XP Media Center - Extender

I spent all weekend trying to get my xbox360 and XP Media Center (OEM) sync?d so that I could use my 360 as a media extender. For whatever reason I cannot get it to work.

Let me note that I do have WMP11 and my 360 is allowed for sharing. I can access my files (videos, mp3, photos) through my 360 but just not through the media center portion.

My 360 is wired into my pc through my router and I?m not having firewall issues.

Where I am running into problems is here: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/pcsetup/MCE05Lite.htm when I get to Step 3 it starts installing something and the install bar disappears and that?s it. I sit there waiting for Step 4 to appear so that I can start to enter my 8-digit code but nothing happens (and I mean I waited for a good amount of time).

When I try running Step 3 again I get a pop-up box that tells me something to the effect that it is already trying to install. Have you heard of this before, run across anything like this?

I?ve tried installing rollup 2, that would not install - after it started it stopped and did a system restore to just before I tried to install it. I then tried Service Pack 3, installed it, rebooted, tried to rerun step 3 and nothing.

I?m about ready to give up on this whole extender.

Any help would be appreciated thanks.

on your router turn off or uncheck DMZ That did it for me, also maybe a fresh install of XP.
