I have been using peerguardian for years and had not looked at what it was doing for a very long time. I got the creeps when I looked. There were quite a few different sites trying to get in when I started P2P up. There is interest all over the world in what I am doing. Anyone know what they are doing? I am sure none are friendly.
I read about a survey the other day about how may files are being down loaded by P2P. Could they be trying to hack my computer to see what I am doing? If not, what are they doing?
If you have not checked out exactly what peer guardian is doing, you out to check it out today. If you don't have a blocker, I suggest you correct that ASAP! Some P2P clients have a built in blocker but more do not. I prefer what I know.
I have googled a few of these ip address that peer guardian shows in it's log and I didn't like what I found out about them.
I would say they are trying to see what you are doing on the p2p networks.
It does amaze me how many people still d/l from p2p sites and don't have any kind of protection running, I guess some people just have to learn the hard way.

Yes, some of the discriptions were useful. I also Googled some of the more persistant unknowns. I saw one attack engine but at least you knew what it was doing. There were sites from 6 - 12 countries that were identified. Why would Red China be interested in me? It is all creepy. The only bright side is right now their is not much they can gather legaly until the laws change.

Old timers like me still call the PRC "Red China" and will not change. The Peoples Republic of China is too hard to remember and pronounce after after calling it Red China for 30-40 years. Sorry, the addage "you can't teach old dogs new tricks" applies to me. Probably if France changed its name to the Republic of France you would still call the country France. And in 20-30 years someone would question you as to why you call the Republic of France, France.
I am not upset in the least. One of the more interesting part about these forums is you interface persons that think differently than you.
In my formative years China was called Red China. That is easy to say and remember for me. My guess is you are used to calling Hong Kong that way so you will continue. That is normal.
I suspect many persons my age call China, Red China.
Yes you are probably close to my age. Close enough for this discussion. Unless there is a war I don't pay too much attention to the name changes anywhere in the world.
I was lucky enough to buy cheap Japanise optics right before they weren't cheap. They weren't even too cheap then but the price doubled in 5 years.
