hey lads whats the best Linux that you can download. noob to linux now 10 euro someone is goin to say ubuntu. I heard of this one where its a cube and all your setting and stuff are in a cube on the desktop. just want a cool one that no one else has. thanks

These are all cool, and nobody else you know will be using them:

But seriously, for a noob, you want something that IS used by everyone else so you can have support, in which case you can't go past Ubuntu. I think you'll be needing a lot of it if you're only wanting to use Linux to show off and not because you want to actually USE it. And Ubuntu has compiz installed by default, you just need to install the config program to activate the cube. Doesn't get much easier to be a poser than with Ubuntu...

your a legend oz. so in the end on the desktop computer ubuntu will only reconize the usb mouse and a keyboard wont accept the serial one. thats when I install it inside windows. but when I got to install the demo version it comes up dos. so goin to install ubuntu on the laptop and take it from there. thanks oz. beryl looks incredible breathtaking

As for coming up at a command prompt, search for help on the official Ubuntu forums. You probably just need to type in a single little instruction as the disc is booting. You might also want to consider downloading the "alternative install" disc. It isn't as pretty to install from, but gets the job done in a lot of cases where it otherwise wouldn't.
