hey all. I have read many threads on here trying to understand more thing's before having to create a thread. I'm not thick, just new to anything like this, recently bought myself my own house etc and looking into VM packages. Is it right that i don't need a TV package in order to use a box that provides all channels? I'm new to this, so not sure how it all works? If i only need a live feed then i assume i only need broadband? is there some kind of splitter so i can use the broadband and a TV box? also a thread i read where someone was asking for what is the best box.. i know people have personal preferences but what is the most popular? not that bothered about recording, just watchin the TV with a good signal and nice menu.. any help is much appreciated

Thanks

you only require a live feed....check outside you house front on the front wall if there is a small grey or brown box with cables coming into it from the ground and then from the box into your house...2 cables.1 thick,1 thin..thick is for broadband and tv,the thin one is for telephone..you can slide of the box cover to see if the cable is cut or not..inside your house you will find small white boxes on the wall with cable, ntl,tw,c&w inscribed on them..thats what you need.
if no live connection, you are best instructed to get a bradband package, from which you can split the connection and add a dvb box.splitters cost around 5 quid max and cable about 2quid...hope that helps.

if your a beginner to cable boxes i suggest get a starview 3 super or a eurovox ex1000 for ease of connection and use and very reliable..digivox xl is new and also very good,or a starview 4 usb if you need to record to an external hard drive....keep in mind that the starview 3 super is no longer available from the main importers and the ones available are chinese made..its a risk, but its your choice...

i appreciate the message mate.. i do have the box in my living room, whether it's live or not i don't know, i'll have to check what you said about looking outside the house etc.. thanks :).. i have many threads about those eurovox's and looked on skywonder.co.uk they seem to be well priced and look a nice tidy lil box. I was just wondering what most people recommended etc. This site seems to offer a lot of help if i am to come unstuck anyway.. so many thanks for the reply
