My PSP's charging area broke. Not my charger. Just the part where you put the charger in broke. So basically the rod you see in your psp charging socket is broken. So I'm down to USB. But I don't always have access to a computer. Is there a way to get a USB charger that plugs in like the AC charger?

Why don't you just get a battery charger from DX like this one

EDIT: For the USB AC Charger mentioned before, will that work with any USB cable or only the ones that can charge the PSP from the comp.

Sorry, I had jumped the gun. This only works with your charger cable that came with the PSP. Now if you want to hook up the USB to AC using a plug like this one http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.37 or try using a powered usb hub that runs on ac like this http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.11779

So I can just get any USB cable that'll hook up to my PSP and connect it to the USB AC Charger?

Basically, yes. The plug is probably your best and cheapest option. The USB hub is good if you have a few other items that are powered by USB but it is a bit bigger to carry around so you might want to decide against it. There one other option I can show which is a wall plugged battery charger by Pisen with battery which is a great deal since the battery suffers from no memory effect unlike the Sony battery. It comes with a 3 or 4 hour speed charger. This combo is around 20.00 usd but only for the PSP fat, for the PSP slim you need to buy the separate charger and and battery. Go here http://www.dealextreme.com/search.dx/search.pisen%20batter#603 and on the top of the page the search results there should be and option for PSP batteries, click on this link and it should take you to the two battery options I mentioned

Per instructions on page:
Usage Instructions Return to top
Charge any USB powered device with this 600mA USB universal charger.

* How do I choose which mA USB charger is suitable for me? It depends on your devices. To determine how much mA you will need, just refer to the power requirement tags on your devices. The mA requirement of your devices must be smaller than the mA of the USB charger in order to charge.

If you would of read the post on the DX site of a staff member using this to charge his PSP since 2006, then yes, that would be an indicator that it will work for it otherwise I would of not mentioned it. Since the charging prod is broken on your PSP as you menitoned, I woud go with the charger you could plug in with your PSP charge cord if you are worried this plug will not work.

if it was me and you have a phat psp i would just mod the usb port so it could be charged that way and as for psp slims since the usb only charges while in the xmb and not while its off (dead battery) or playing a game i would just replace the ac prong so you could charge it right again
