My disks look pretty good but every time I try and back them up with dvd shrink and dvd decrypter, either the first episode or the last will skip on a couple of the disks. Am I the only one having this problem? Any suggestions would be VERY much appreciated!

I guess I should have mentioned, it's a single layer disk so it needs to be shrunk down to fit. should I shrink with dvd shrink and still try and burn with DvdFab?

I've been going back and watching some of my backups of Star Trek Voyager and noticed a lot of them are having playback issues and pixelating or has playback issues. I've noticed this happen on many other tv series as well.
DVD Shrink was a great compression utility at the time. It works well, but is not full proof. Back then, I was using the two same programs. I chalk up my bad backups to poor choice in media. Back then, I didn't know where to get the "good stuff". Now I know better.
There are many more programs available nowadays that do a better job than DVD Shrink and even more programs which make DVD Shrink's job much easier by eliminating all the bad cells and junk.

1. Rip to hard drive with DvdFab Hd Decrypter
2. Process through either VobBlanker or FixVts to clean the files up a bit.
3. You can use Dvd Shrink, works best removing unwanted languages, subtitles, etc. But, for an episodic disc i'd recommend Dvd Rebuilder instead of Dvd Shrink for best quality results.
4. Burn with Imgburn.
How many episodes are you trying to put on one disc? You may end up needing to split into two discs for best overall quality.

Some other things to try:
1. Burn at 1/2 the rated speed of the Blank Media
2. Use Good Quality Media (TYs or Verbs)
3. In Shrink set the Target Area to 4300
4. Burn With Imgburn For Sure
I always use Ripit4me for my Episodic Disk. so you don't have to run it through Fixfts. I Know very little about Rebuilder, But if 7th Says it's Good, then you Can take it to the Bank.

thanks guys, now I've tried regular dvd shrink, I've taken the video segments out and converted them on ConvertXtoDVD in smaller portions, I've used imgburn of course. And it's not just Law and Order, other videos through ConvertXtoDVD as well. any other ideas?

You may also want to take a look at DVD Flick to convert to Dvd compliant video. It's Free
I don't know why you are using Convertxtodvd. If these are Comercial DVDs You are trying to Back-Up, you wouldn't need Convertxtodvd.
