Was it writing DVD's ok previously?
Can you playback DVD's from the drive?
Can it burn CD's?
If it was working ok and there were no wiring changes made, until it's resolved, try checking the 'Test Mode' box on the main screen of imgburn.
Set the burn speed up to 4x and do a simulation burn.
its reads dvds sometimes depends on what it wants to do. its actually an upgraded drive from my last one so i have yet to burn a dvd successfully. thought it was just the discs but its not because it wont run in test mode either.
If the previous drive was functional, I would be putting it back to see if everything was normal - I could assume then that there was no connector/power issue issue - then begin again.
