Whilst writing anything to DVD, is it a good idea to not do anything else? Probably a bit of a n00b question, but I used to be able to browse the internet, or just play solitaire before. I'm running Vista Home premium, 4gb Ram, Sata hard drive(s), and 2 x Samsung dvd writers(SH-S182m). Verbatim DVD media (DVD-R). Any help appreciated.

Before the invent of these new powerful machines it was advised not to multitask while burning. With the few specs you listed I think you'll be fine burning while multitasking...although you will want to keep some tasks to a minimum while burning such as moving/copying files, transcoding video etc. located on the HDD that you are burning from.
