Hi I am trying to get my Slim2k working again. I would have to say it is the mobo. The prob. is that it will not read the disc. and after the first attempot when you close the umd door it automatically gives the audible and says cannot read disc. I have replaced the UMD drive with another but the same results. I do not understand. . .

yea, most likely is a deeper problem like the mobo then unless you bought a faulty umd drive, only way to be sure is to replace the mobo but might be easier just to get a used psp slim though i recommend you get a psp slim with custom firmware and create .iso backups of all your umds so you can play them from your memory stick and avoid damging the flimsy umd drive in the first place.

Well it seems I am dealing with 3 PSP slims with faulty mobo's. I have checked all other parts and they work but one moboT852, won't run UMD up to speed, one T851 does not display graphics clearly, and one T851 the Dpad U/D does not register. This is kind of sad I have the same four year old PSP1k and it has been dropped thrown, and God knows what else. Still works Great, only 1 dead pixel and these slims are spotless, I mean spotless and they all have mobo failures.
