If you want to consider a "paid" solution, I use TMPGenc 4.0 Express and TMPGenc DVD Author 1.6. Trial versions are available for you to test.

Conversion times will be directly proportional to the processing power of your PC. Intel will be faster than AMD (all other things being equal).

cphicks, hi. by "programs" I'll assume you mean audio/visual, film/video files. I've never had any problem sending a Program to disc and never have I converted a Program's format, (unless it came in a .zip or .rar container... (ribbin' ya :)

Both of the programs suggested by rtm27 and dailun will do the job.
So will this one: NCH Prism Video Converter, its free and found here-

http://www.nchsoftware.com/prism/index.html

If you try it, Create a folder somewhere on your HDD named PRISM or whatever you fancy, Open Prism Video Converter, use the ADD tab to add all the files you want to convert,(you can choose them all at the same time) they'll show in the GUI, choose your output format, direct the output to the folder that you created ( you can just use My Documents as a destination folder if you want) and click the Convert tab.
Once that's done you can then add all of the new files to whatever program you use to create/Burn DVD or CD media discs.
You could load all of your New files into ImageBurn to send them to disc. ImageBurn is here:-

http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/ImgBurn/1128426215/1

I'd say that with nine 25 minute files (220 )minutes in whatever format and MB size that they're in now, that file size will increase if you are making MPEG-2.
If you want DVD VIDEO_TS PAL or NTSC then you will have to use ConvertX to DVD or DVDFlick.

I'm also looking for a software program that will convert files in the blink of an eye, alas, I can't find one named Gandalf or Merlin.
I have/do use CXD3, DVDFlick and NCH Prism VC; my experience is that an audio/visual file of xxx hrs:mins:secs length of playing time, as it is, will take that same amount of time minimum to convert to another format. Never has it been done in a shorter time.
9 x 25mins? 4 hours at the least :{
:)Good luck ;p

I just started using DVDCoach Express. No bells and whistles, few options, but it converts an .avi file to a DVD with all the quality of AVI2DVD, and in 1/4 the time. AND it's free...

Not true. It uses ffmpeg for encoding. Apps that use HCenc 2 pass encoding (a very highly rated and respected mpeg-2 encoder), Avi2Dvd, AVStoDVD, FAVC etc. (all free) will provide superior results. Fast, very seldom = quality and usually denotes less effective 1 pass encoding.

I cannot argue with you over which is the better encoder. But when I intend to play the resulting DVD on my $30 DVD player, attached to a 25" CRT TV, the extra quality is not all that apparent. Also, I was getting perturbed with the lack of any support for AVI2DVD. The latest BeSweet failure was the last straw. I have recently begun using DVDFlick, which also uses FFMPEG, but has more functionality than DVDCoach Express.
