I am dying to know what program to use to turn my many MPG Movies into WMV with 5.1 Surround.
I back up my DVDs to 1 Large File using dvd shrink, then rename that file to "Movie.mpg" I can stream the movie fine with Media center extender, but not from the dash, so If I convert all my movies to WMV HD or so, I could use either the Dash or MCE. Please Point me in the right direction. I need to have Surround Sound with the movies or it is not worth Converting. Also I have tried Windows Media encoder but it Hangs or Shuts Down. I have XP MCE 2005, 1gb ram, 2200mhz amd 64. Thanks.

i dont think it is worth it cause all the converting i have done did not give me 5.1 sound options and the video quality was hurt a lot compared to the original
