Hi, I'm doing a clean OS install for a buddy using XP pro.
Now I want to update the system to a new BIOS but it ask me for administrator password and my friend don't sem to remember it.
So my question is, is there a way around that via a command line or something?

BIOS password is NOT in the OS!!!!

You will need to reset the CMOS jumper on the mobo. Get the motherboard manual for specific instructions for your motherboard.

I don't have the manual and I'd really appreciate it if you guide me though the process?

Without knowing what Motherboard you have it would be next to impossible since I don't know where the jumper is.

If you cannot get that information, then the only alternative would be to remove the real time clock battery (button cell) for about 10 minutes, then replace it and power up. If the clock resets and you get a CMOS checksum error the CMOS has been reset and you can continue.

Note that you will need to reset all of the motherboard parameters if any of them are not on default.

IMHO, if you don't know how to perform these procedures then you should be thinking twice about upgrading someone's BIOS.

I do agree with Dialun, if you don't remember password simply reset the CMOS jumper on the motheboard, it will reset BIOS settings to the factory settings
