Hello again everyone.I just finished upgraded my 40gb hard drive on my PS3 to a 500gb hard drive. I also purchased this external enclosure for my old PS3 40gb hard drive. I cnn't seem to figure out how to install it. Is it not compatible with the hard drive? I'm not to smart with this stuff. Did I just waste my money? I can't seem to figure out how to install it. Thanks for your time and help.

I'm sorry to tell you, but I think you may have purchased the wrong enclosure. You need to purchase a SATA external enclosure, this is an IDE enclosure. Luckily Newegg has great customer service and will probably exchange the product for you. They may charge you a restocking fee, but you may be able to talk them out of that.

Heh the age old problem that new people bump into :P

Yeah as they said the PS3 drive is a SATA drve and the enclosure you got was for an IDE drive.

Thats the thing these days so many different formats which do the same thing and you have to make sure you know they're compatible with your stuff. There are times when even the packaging doesnt even tell you making you want to take a guess before taking it home and opening it to realise you go tthe wrong thing :P

Thanks for your help....yeah when I purchased it I just looked at the size 2.5 and failed to see if it was for a SATA. I actually have someone who wants to buy it from me and I just purchased another one from new egg.... the right one this time lol....thanks again for all you input guys...afterdawn.com best site ever.
