I'm trying to get info on replacing the ancient caddy-loading Sony CDU948S 2X CD-R mechanism that lives inside my La Cie ext. drive case.

Does anyone know of a source for SCSI CD-R internal drives that would drop in this case? Is it even possible to put the current tray-loading units inside a case made for the old caddy-loading units?

I also have an old Apple 2X CD-ROM ext. SCSI -- would the CD-R mechanism go in that?
