Okay, this problem didn't usually bothered me until it now. Sometimes my psp would randomly crash in a game, but that happened like once in a long while so it never bothered me. Apparently for only some games too.
But I've downloaded DJ Max Fever and now, I could play 1 or 2 songs consecutively fine, then in one song, if I try to exit the song in any given way (start screen or beating the song), the game crashes. What's more, sometimes when the song is one where I'll crash, the screen gets bugged and it starts rapidly flashing/blinking from the screen and the start screen, creating an undesirable experience.
Crash as in, the screen freezes, green light stays still, memory indicator is absent, and after about 10 seconds, the PSP turns off completely with a loud shutting off sound, and when I restart it's as if the PSP was turned off (opening logo)
I have custom firmware 3.95 GEN, I've tried running the game at 333 mhz and default, I have the basic settings to run CSOs perfectly, I've played around 20 games without this problem. This is the first game that makes me crash in a certain area consecutively. (Although with Syphon Filter Dark Mirror, in a story level, the map was screwed up and I would spawn on top of a bottomless abyss, thought it was a cso glitch)
I assumed this is a more specific problem so, can anyone help me?
Should I try getting 5.00 custom firmware? Please help.
usuallyt this is caused by faulty game/homebrew or too many plugins active so changeing some settings in the recovery menu and changeing to 5.00 m33-6 may help, try using the program hellvat's recovery flasher to get back or pandorize if needed
I've successfully downloaded and installed 5.00 M33-6. But I think I've identified the problem a little bit more.
It seems the error occurs once I've played through the game for a certain period of time, such as 5 minutes. Some faulty errors include sound distortions such as menu button sounds being sped up so fast that they sound like high pitched screams, and I'm guessing this misreading is the root of the problem.
Can you suggest any setup of configs in the recovery settings for maximum efficiency? I've put the few minimum necessities for reading without UMD and put CPU speed at 333. For everything else, I'm not really sure and I have nothing else inside my psp other then the custom firmware and CSO games.
Also, I'm unfamiliar with Hellcat's recovery flasher, but some info told me it's just basically to up/down grade custom firmwares, so I guess I wouldn't be needing that.
I seriously doubt the problem is because of a faulty CSO. Please help, I've been waiting a long time for this game and now I can't play it T______________T
yea now that your on m33 and not Gen you don't really need hellcat's but its always good to have just incase something goes wrong.
use the umdiso driver M33 and in the recovery menu under Advanced > Advanced configuration disable all 5 settings and you may want to keep the game mhz at normal as that may be whats speeding up the sound, other then that the only thing that could help is formatting your memory stick either with the psp or through winxp with fat32 and possibly formatting flash1 and resetting your settings under the recovery menu, these sometimes help to fix bugs and speed things up if you try though don't forget to backup your memory stick
Thanks for all your help. I've discovered what was wrong now.
Apparently since DJ MAX Fever is new and the developers of the games got smart (typical koreans xD) the game makes sure it's running on a real UMD, or else it crashes in a short while, apparently. I just gotta wait for the patched one to be uploaded >.<
Thanks for your time, I did get something out of this experience I guess xD
