xbox 360 copying/burning games update

hello all, new here. Just thought i would stop by here and ask a simple question. I know theirs tutorials out their already on "how to copy " or "burn downloaded games" with your xbox being modded. BUT ive notice all of those are YEARS and YEARS old we are talking 2003 and latest one ive found was 2006.
My question is, its 2009 now, isn't there an easier way of copying games using less and less steps? Do we MUST still mod our xbox 360 just for it to play copied or burned games? Is it possible yet to have a standered (updated) untouched xbox and still able to download games off internet or copy games and make it play on your xbox??
If we can do this, can someone please send me a link to tutorial? Thank you.......

the DVD drive must still be flashed... there is no way around it... the difficulty of this varies based on what DVD drive is inside the xbox...
the absolute easiest way is to just pay someone $$$ to do it for you.

getting it flashed is the easiest and least expensive way to get it to play backup games..
i checked out the craigslist ad you linked... the only thing i don't like about it is that he charges $10 for a copy of the firmware...
cause you will want a copy of it ... perhaps give him a call and try to talk him down to $5 for a copy of the firmware LOL

ok and my other big concern is playing LIVE....some people said that if you play live games like COD5 or farcry or other live games then microsoft will find out you have your xbox modded of flashed firm and they will suspend your live account.... true? possible?

To Donaldo: I didn't quite get the difference between Flash and Modding? A mod kit for the Xbox 360 (X360 USB kit is about $50) and claims that it does the same thing. Could you please exp[lain the differences for us and your preference. Pros and cons if you will. Thanks

flashing is free and only takes around 10 minutes to do. using a mod chip requires the person to solder a chip onto the dvd drive and usually takes longer than 10 minutes. in the end, they both accomplish the same thing, allowing the owner to play burnt games. flashing is the most widely accepted choice on this forum.

ive seen some flashing videos on youtube.... can you recommend which one to follow as i dont want to screw this up, thanks.
and can someone answer the "getting cought" on LIVE by microsoft thing? Thanks ahead of time.

i think im just gonna pay the guy 30 bucks and get it flashed.. I think i will be wasting my time figuring out how to flash my drive and by the time im done flashing it, it will be a waste of my whole day... unless its much more simpler.
But before i decide to flash, is it true that Microsoft can catch you on LIVE if your drive is flashed and then can ban your live account??

1.How is it possible for them to catch you? What if you copy a full game from blockbuster and play live, can they still catch you?
2. What if you just play single player, can they still catch you while you "online" but playing only single player? Or you must be offline?
3. What if you play LIVE on your purchased CD Game will they still be able to check if you have a flashed version xbox and ban you?
4. What is the chances of them catching you and how can you avoid being cought?
5. Have you or do you know of anyone whos been cought?

Honestly, no one knows what exactly Microsoft does in efforts to catch people who have flashed their drive. But what has been discovered is the information that is sent in and out of your 360. As of right now, Microsoft only does challenge responses with the disc and dvd drive. (That could change in the future though) The iXtreme firmware will allow you to go undetected on live, as older versions of the firmware, people were getting banned for running modified firmware. But there are still ways you can get caught even running iXtreme firmware, example... playing online with games before release date, have a bad rip (deviation that varies heavily), getting achievements before release date, then going on live when the game comes out.. etc etc.. All that sets off flags at Microsoft and eventually, they will ban you. There is never a 100% guarantee that you will not get banned. With the back-up copies you make, you need to run them through ABGX360, as that will compare a lot of info with a server, and stealth patch if need be. There are plenty of tuts for ABGX so I won't go into detail. Any type of online play will give Microsoft enough time to run challenge responses, so single player or multiplayer doesn't make a difference, you are still running a risk. There are plenty of people on YouTube that post videos of there "Banned XBOX 360". Watch them. You will know if you get banned.. lol. I do not condone making back-up copies from any rental place. This is my PURE SPECULATION... but.. What stops Microsoft from recording their SS, DMI, PFI, Game CRC etc etc.. of retail games that are distributed to rental places, like Blockbuster... and then they notice you have been playing that game for 6 months or so.. Again, that is MY pure speculation, if anybody wants to tear it apart with evidence or facts, be my guest.

ok I have a quick question maybe you guys can help me. I have flashed my drive and burned a backup of left 4 dead. Im sure the drive was flashed correctly because when It finished It said Drive flash sucsess. But when I try to play my backup It just reads for a while and then says open tray? Is there a way to verify if the drive was flashed correctly. I have a Hitachi 46d drive. Also do I have to have a DVD or Original game In the drive when flashing it?

put in a retail copy and if it plays u are good, it is most likely the disc u burned isnt correct and need another copy burned

watching some of the youtube videos you suggested of banned people, heres what some of them said.. let me know if this is true or not.
"Guys just follow this simple rules and youre not going to get banned:
1. NEVER play a game before its launched.
2. NEVER play a game that isnt STEALTH.
3. NEVER use MODDED games.
Thats all, 3 years with modded 360s and never banned, playing online, offline and getting a lot of achievements =P "

seriously, he is right
if you just dont do anything stupid, you wont get banned
there is no way for them to know whether you have a modded 360 simply by scanning it
they can only tell if the game you play isn't stealth, or you play a game before it is released

thats totally fake dude. something that awesome if it was real would be all over these boards. and if it were real we would be able t odo tons more with that kind of tech just being able to plug into the usb port and do that kind of stuff. so no it is not real.

Hitachi 46s and 47s are known for this. You need to adjust the POT calibration of the DVD drive. Fairly simple to do and will save you some money thinking you burned a bad game, when you didn't. Google XBOX 360 POT Calibration .. a good tut is in the first link. I just had a 47 doing the same thing. Original setting was at 3.66 and adjusted it to 3.05 and now it plays backups fine. The laser isn't strong enough to read because the dye or something like that in the burned disk. Increasing the laser strength will solve your problem.

thanks for the help. I tried the pot tweek turned it down to about 3.22 before i stopped. I also tried the plastic trick. nothing seems to work. I am almost positive that the disk i made are not bad becuse when I put them in my pc the thing comes up that says to play this disk put it in a xbox console. I am using Sony Rw-DL disks.

Try it at 3.00 or right around there. Maybe its the media.. i've never had problems with verbatims. They seem to work the best.

hey, this might not be related, but I was wondering how you mod burned games. I know how to mod on PC, but if anyone can hook me up with a link or tut for 360 modding, i would greatly appreaciate it. Thanks!
