Been having my 360 saying open tray...Sometimes Im playing a game them it kicks off and shows open try...I have it set at 8x read speed could that caus it? Or is it calibration settings in the dvd drive?
That seems to be weird that it's doing that. I have all my drives set to 12x. You may want to try 12x and see if it fixes the problem. Otherwise I don't know what is the problem.
Have you tried a different firmware?? I have solved many open tray messages by reflashing the drive. I flashed back to original.bin then i used the custom firmware. Another thing that you can do is the pot tweak, to be honest i have no experience with pot tweaking? I've heard that it can also solve tray problems. Worst case scenario is that the laser is starting to burn out, let's hope that is not the problem.
Its just one year old and only played maybe 200 hours and never done it before the fix...I also noticed it done it more with playing from hard drive? I play from disc and couldnt get it to do it again. I will flash it to 12x see what that does...Have been waiting for the new 1.5 for hitachi but dont seem like its coming so ill just do the 1.4 again.

You can dump the firmware on your Hitachi with FirmareToolbox 4.8, when you reflash the drive your going to dump the original.bin and save it somewhere on your hard drive. I've got my original keys saved in four different places. It may be overkill but i sent all my keys to my email account, USB drive, external drive, and secondary internal drive on my pc, better safe then sorry.
Yeah I have the original bin and hacked bin saved...I cut and pasted where it said key and a bunch of numbers when I done it the first time. Is the key a bin file or what? I will look up on key extraction....I dont know if its the numbers i saved or really what it is but Im going to find out...TY
