The modded console used to read burned games like a champ before but around Thanksgiving it red ringed. I fixed it and works fine, but shortly after I fixed it I realized I was unable to play burned games. Plays retail games just not burned ones.
Here's the thing, the last burned game I played was played on 11/7/08, Guitar Hero World Tour, after that date I was playing a legitimate copy of Fallout 3. I downloaded the XBOX NXE a little after it's launch at 11/19/08, so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with my system being unable to play burned games. I think not since most people haven't experienced any problems.
The Xbox was fixed for the rrod and has been flashed using the latest ixtreme firmware. I believe 1.4 is the latest for the hitachi drives, though I'm confident it already had that version. I'm at work now but I believe I have a hitachi 46d, a hitachi for sure, version forty something. I've flashed it a few times changing the burn speeds but to no avail. The system simply gives me the "Cannot Read Disc" error.
I use verbatim media and all games were stealth patched and the console has never been turned when it shouldn't have, i.e. with the drive disconnected or anything like that.
I'm sorry if this problem has already been addressed somewhere else but I've been searching high and low for a solution to this specific problem and haven't found anything. Maybe the drive or laser is too weak to read burned games, I don't know.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. I've been searching for months and felt that this was the best forum to post my question.
well we can rule out the media as you are using the suggest type. but what speeds were they burnt at? also, your laser could be going out, so you might need to adjust the POT on it, or replace the laser itself.

glad you got it fixed, but you really shouldnt use those laser cleaning discs on any console, it tends to mess it up more than fixing it. heck, i think most of the discs say do not use this on xbox, xbox 360, ps2, ps3.
