Audio problems when burning a DVD

Hi,

First post and a Newbie here but I have just burnt my first DVD using the How-To guide to the letter unfortunately there is no audio on the DVD.

Th original file was a Xvid file and I ran it through TMPGEnc to produce a MPEG and a MP2 audio file.

I then ran the files throuh IFO Edit and then burnt the results using Nero.

The result plays fine in my stand alone DVD player but without any Audio at all.

I have tried plying just the MP2 audio file through Real Player and it's just quiet which explains in a way why there is no audio burnt onto the DVD. While th MPEG file plays fine and as expected without any audio

This is my first attempt and I have been trying various methods over the past 4 days and keep producing coasters, every attempt though sees the results TMPGEnc lose the audio.

Running the oriinal download through G-Spot it gives the audio as:

Name: 0x0055(MP3) ID'd as MPEG-1 Layer 3
Audio Src: MPEGLAYER3 (MP3) (0x0055)
Audio Path: (S) --> AVI Splitter --> MPEG Layer-3 Decoder --> (R)

*Just to note when I play the original XVid file the audio is complete and in sync*

I have just followed this through and assumed that the audio is not AC3.

Any help appreciated folks
